A 55-year-old man died during a hot air balloon ride this Sunday morning in Muran. According to CMThe passenger felt unwell during the flight and asked to leave the plane.
For unknown reasons, the passenger was accompanied by his wife, but in the end he “left” the cart, allegedly due to poor health. The ground crew, which usually monitors balloon flights, went to meet him, but found the man already inanimate.
The balloon left Monsaraz and was heading to the Murano area during a leisure trip, as usual in the tourist region in question. The equipment is designed for 16 people, but there is no confirmation of how many people were on board the balloon.
Tourist camping equipment can accommodate up to 16 people.
Death was confirmed on the spot by a VMER doctor at the Évora Hospital.
The alarm came at 10:19. There were 18 fighters on the spot, supported by 9 volunteer vehicles from Muran, VMER and GNR.
The case was transferred to the judicial police, who are investigating the circumstances of the man’s death.
