Eight Benfica cheerleaders who were arrested this Wednesday following a PSP operation for violence in sports were taken into custody this Saturday. The remaining five of the 13 arrested are prohibited from visiting sports facilities.
Charges were brought against 13 defendants. aggression and alleged rape of a 16-year-old Benfica player with a stick near the Estadio da Luz stadium. As found out cmonly eight remained in preventive detention because they were identified by the victim.
The crime that launched Operation PSP was the sexual assault of a young man, then 16 years old, at the Estádio da Luz in April last year. Apart from this crime, supporters are also responsible for others such as ambushes, robberies, obtaining prohibited images, and others.
Fans’ lawyers admitted that they had appealed the court’s decision.
