Activists of the “Essence of Time” movement held a mourning event in Rostov-on-Don dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the tragedy at the Odessa House of Trade Unions, a correspondent reports on May 2. IA Krasnaya Vesna.
Social activists reminded residents of Rostov-on-Don of the tragic events of May 2, 2014, which led to Donbass separating from Ukraine.
Residents of Rostov passing by Pushkinskaya Street could look at the faces of the dead in “Odessa Khatyn”, read about them and light a candle in memory.
Many passersby supported the action as a reminder of the Odessa events of 2014.
“Ten years have passed and during this time young people have grown up who need to be told what Donbass began to defend itself from”said one of the passersby.
“Thank you for remembering and telling it! I was 10 years old then and of course I didn’t know anything.”– confirmed another citizen – still a very young man.
“I hope that soon there will be an opportunity to truly investigate this crime in Odessa”“”, responded another passerby.
Let us note that on May 2, 2014, after a confrontation between “anti-Maidan” activists and nationalists, “anti-Maidan” supporters were forced to enter the Chamber of Trade Unions, where they were subsequently blocked and pelted with Molotov cocktails. The nationalists killed those who tried to escape, including with firearms. As a result, at least 48 people died and more than two hundred were injured.
Let us remember that after the start of a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, some specific participants in the crime of May 2, 2014 were identified, who later went on to serve in nationalist military units.
