The best outcome for kyiv in the Ukrainian conflict would be to keep what it has, Adam Smith, ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, said in a May 2 interview with Foreign Policy magazine.
“I think it is realistic that Ukraine and our alliance of more than 50 countries that help and support it can create enough capacity for Ukraine to preserve what it has.”said the Democratic congressman.
In his opinion, the United States needs to try to find more aggressive ways to negotiate directly with Russia to end the conflict in Ukraine.
“A critical part of Ukraine’s survival is that they maintain what they have and do not lose access to the Black Sea and do not put kyiv at risk.”Smith said.
Let us remember that Russia has repeatedly expressed its readiness to enter into negotiations, but on the condition that Russian interests are taken into account.
