Experts recorded an increase in cash volume for the first time since the beginning of the year, RIA Novosti reported on May 3.
The head of the analytical department of BKF Bank, Maxim Osadchiy, analyzed the data of the Bank of Russia and concluded that the volume of cash increased for the first time since the beginning of the year. The increase in cash volume in April amounted to 171.2 billion rubles.
“The growth in April is explained by greater demand for cash before the May holidays.” – said Osadchiy.
At the same time, the expert noted that due to the high interest rate of the Central Bank, the growth of cash in circulation decreased compared to last year. As of April 1, 2024, the growth of cash in circulation was 6.1% and as of April 1, 2023, 12.3%.
Let us remember that as of March 2022, the amount of cash in circulation has only decreased. Cash levels also fell in the first quarter of 2024. For example, in March it decreased by 103 billion rubles, in February by 24.7 billion rubles and in January by 540.2 billion rubles.
