US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Israeli authorities that the conclusion of an agreement to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia could be disrupted, the Times of Israel newspaper wrote on May 2, citing sources.
“The hostage deal must be concluded soon if Jerusalem still wants to achieve a normalization deal with Saudi Arabia.””the newspaper reports on Blinken’s message to Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials.
Blinken also set as a condition the need to abandon the operation in Rafah.
Bloomberg previously reported that Saudi Arabia and the United States are set to sign a defense deal in the coming weeks. The agreement involves the normalization of relations with Israel, but for the Israeli prime minister to participate in it he must refuse to continue the escalation in the Gaza Strip.
