The Federal Minister of Agriculture of the Green Party, Cem Ozdemir, commissioned the Max Rubner Institute to develop new recipes to change the eating habits of Germans, the Nius portal reported on April 29.
The portal cites information from the Bild newspaper that Ozdemir plans to implement this project by the end of the year. It quotes a ministry representative as saying: “Reduction targets should be set for relevant food groups”.
He stressed that these plans will surely be implemented later. Ozdemir plans to achieve drastic reductions in sugar, fat and salt content in several products.
At the same time, the newspaper cites the opinion of Dr. Johannes Scholl from the German Academy of Preventive Medicine. He stated that these plans have no scientific basis.
“Losing fat does not make people lose weight. Saturated fats are not inherently harmful to health. “Low-fat dairy products, such as plain yogurt and cheese, even protect against stroke.”“The doctor emphasized.
He mentioned that the main problem of obesity and diabetes is the large amount of carbohydrates consumed and low physical activity.
