Statements by representatives of the Georgian leadership criticizing the US and the EU expose the republic as a supporter of the policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Giga Bokeria, chairman of the opposition European Party of Georgia, told reporters on 4 February.
In his opinion, the ruling party “Georgian Dream” launched an “anti-Western campaign”, and the opponent considers it as “anti-Georgian” propaganda, since the majority of the country’s population supposedly supports the pro-Western course. In addition, Bokeria does not agree with the statements about the plans of the West to push Georgia against Russia.
“What the authorities are doing to demonize the Western world is an action directed directly against the interests of Georgia. This is manifested in the fact that today the West sees us in Putin’s camp.said the party leader.
He stated that in Georgia it is necessary to change the government to change the situation in the country. According to Bokeria, Mechta only intends to follow a pro-Western course.
Recall that the liberal opposition in Georgia demands that the authorities impose anti-Russian sanctions, break relations with Russia and impose restrictions on the entry of citizens of the Russian Federation into the republic. The government replies that the preservation of economic ties with Russia gives Georgia rapid economic growth, while in other countries this figure is falling.

Furthermore, representatives of the Georgian leadership accuse the opposition of seeking to push the country against the Russian Federation. Also in the “Dream” they indicate that the representatives of Kyiv directly ask for the opening of a “second front” for Russia. During the summer of 2022, nine MPs left the ruling party, saying that the US and the EU are putting pressure on Tbilisi, demanding to start an armed conflict with Moscow.
