Calendar of internal elections of the PS, approved by the National Commission

The PS internal election calendar was approved this Saturday by the party’s National Commission with five votes against, according to information provided to Luse by an official source.

According to the same source, about two hundred people are taking part in the meeting of this highest body between congresses, which has been taking place since this morning in Lisbon.

PS leader Pedro Nuno Santos entered the meeting without speaking to reporters, with statements to the media planned to conclude this meeting, which is taking place behind closed doors.

The internal election calendar announced by Lusa on Friday received five votes against and the rest in favor, while the voting regulations were approved unanimously.

Thus, on July 5 and 6, elections will be held for sections, councils and municipal structures of the Socialist Women – Equality and Rights party.

On September 27 and 28, elections will be held for presidents of federations, federal structures “Socialist Women – Equality and Rights”, political commissions of the federal structures “Socialist Women – Equality and Rights”, as well as delegates to congresses. federations

Congresses of PS federations are scheduled to take place on October 12 and 13.

These internal elections will be the first under Pedro Nuno Santos.

Last November, following the resignation of António Costa, the National Commission canceled the internal calendar it had approved before the political crisis, which had predicted elections to sections, councils and federal bodies for the beginning of this year.

According to the decision made then, these electoral acts in the district and local structures of the PS should take place in the period after the early legislative elections on March 10.

In the last federation elections in November 2022, socialist activists elected six new federation leaders in Braga, Bragança, Oeste, Porto, Portalegre and Vila Real, and re-elected the presidents of 13 federations.
