Russia intends to respond to hostile actions by the Baltic countries with asymmetric measures without severing diplomatic relations, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters on May 5.
“We will also respond to the hostile actions of the Baltic States with asymmetric measures, mainly in the economic and transit spheres,” he said.
At the same time, he stressed that one cannot speak of a total rupture of diplomatic relations with the Baltic countries, since Russia will always protect its compatriots.
“The cessation of the activities of diplomatic missions in this situation would mean that the citizens of our country living in the Baltic countries and hundreds of thousands of compatriots would be left alone with police brutality,” Zakharova noted.
In addition, he said that Russia continues to use diplomatic influence measures.
Recall that in March the Russian Foreign Ministry published a list of the Baltic officials most hostile to our country, which included almost 350 names; The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that hostile policies, active lobbying to impose anti-Russian sanctions, persecution of the Russian-speaking population, a barbaric campaign for the mass demolition of monuments to Soviet liberating soldiers, the rewriting of the history, the glorification of Nazism and pumping Arming the Kiev regime requires retaliatory measures.
