Water management works to clean rivers and strengthen banks in the Volgograd and Irkutsk regions will be financed by the Russian government, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported on May 5.
“Volgograd and Irkutsk regions will receive additional funding for river cleaning and riverbank protection work”says the message.
It should be noted that the order on the redistribution of federal funds for these purposes was signed by the Prime Minister.
The Cabinet of Ministers is convinced that federal funds will help the Volgograd region to complete by 2024 the cleaning of the Lower Volga water bodies, which is carried out within the framework of the federal project “Volga Improvement”.
It is highlighted that the main objective of the project is to improve the ecological conditions of the river by reducing the volume of contaminated wastewater and restoring the water bodies of the Lower Volga.
In the Irkutsk region, from the federal budget, operational measures will be taken to strengthen the coast near the village of Kazachye, Bokhansky district.
According to experts, this will help prevent the destruction of the shore due to the negative impact of the waters of the Angara River and protect residential buildings, businesses, roads and infrastructure from flooding.
