The driver of a car died Saturday when it crashed into an outer perimeter gate of the White House complex in Washington, D.C., in an incident that is being investigated as a traffic accident, local police said.
US President Joe Biden spent the weekend in Delaware, and intelligence agencies said there was no threat to the White House, but they would continue to investigate the incident, the Associated Press reports.
The driver, who was not immediately identified, was found dead in the vehicle after the incident shortly before 10:30 pm on Saturday (3:30 am today in Lisbon), according to a Secret Service statement, which said it had activated security protocols.
