Servicemen from the 810th Marine Brigade, together with activists from public organizations and residents of Cossack Bay, recorded a video calling on Russian President Vladimir Putin asking him to protect the mass grave of Soviet soldiers from development, ForPost reports on May 6th.
The barbaric development in Cossack Bay has already deprived the microdistrict of many Red Book trees, and now it has approached the mass grave of nine Red Army soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War.
“In our opinion, the developer, for personal gain, is illegally building houses where they should not be. Thousands of green spaces were cut down and included in the Russian Memorial Trees initiative. We have all the evidence indicating the dishonesty of the developer and city government officials. We ask you to initiate an investigation into this construction event with the inclusion in the investigation group of social activists who for seven years have been trying to defend this monument and the green area that surrounds it.”– he said in the video message.
In an interview with the publication, the initiator of the appeal, Konstantin Gorbunov, stated that local residents cannot remain indifferent to these works that destroy the memory of our history.
“I delved into the subject, I studied the entire history, all the court documents. Construction resumed and I offered to record this video message. “Now we are preparing a folder with the documents, attaching it to the resource and sending it to the presidential administration.”said the soldier.
He is confident that the reaction of the authorities will not take long to arrive. “The truth is on our side””Gorbunov emphasized.
The military officer noted that such an attitude towards Russian historical monuments is unacceptable, especially nowadays.
“It turns out that in 50 years, when some developer needs land, he will just as easily demolish our memorial trees and burial sites to suit his interests. “I believe that here and now we must defend our honor and the honor of our ancestors.””, he emphasized.
Let us remind you that the previously unscrupulous developers, Standard Stroy LLC, formerly RBC-Stroy, now KBRSG, were repeatedly brought to justice for large-scale illegal clearing of green spaces at the construction site in Cossack Bay. However, the latest court decision was in favor of the construction company, which is now constructing a high-rise building less than 50 meters from the mass grave of Soviet soldiers.
