The Russian Ministry of Transport promised to take measures to allocate additional funds for subsidies for air tickets to Kaliningrad, the online publication New Kaliningrad reported on May 6.
On May 1, the sale of subsidized airline tickets for Kaliningrad residents to five destinations began: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk and Yekaterinburg. In total, about 30 thousand tickets can be subsidized with the allocated funds. The number of subsidized tickets for each flight is limited, and on the third day of sale, all subsidized plane tickets to Moscow and back for May ended.
“As discounted tickets are sold, steps will be taken to allocate additional funds for this area.””the ministry said in response to the publication’s request.
The ministry could not explain who should provide the certificate form to students studying in the Kaliningrad region, who are also entitled to discounts on air tickets. Currently, subsidized tickets are not sold to them because airlines are not clear about what document they must use to confirm this status.
The regional government’s press service told the publication that the model document should have been prepared by May 1 by the Russian Ministry of Transport, and the ministry responded to a request for the students’ status to be reviewed. “must be confirmed by the relevant regional law”and this job “It is carried out in close cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Transport.”
