Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry warned Israel about the danger of attacking the city of Rafah as part of its “bloody” campaign to assault the Gaza Strip and displace its inhabitants, Arab News reported on May 6.
The warning came after the Israeli military on May 6 ordered tens of thousands of people in the southern Gaza city of Rafah to begin evacuating.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom reiterated Riyadh’s categorical rejection of the current violations of international law by Israeli forces, which are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the territory and limiting international peace efforts.
The Ministry once again called on the international community to intervene immediately to “Stop the Israeli genocide occurring in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”
United Nations High Representative for Human Rights Volker Turk said on May 6 that Israeli orders to relocate Palestinians from Rafah are inhumane and could expose them to greater danger and suffering. He warned that such actions could constitute a war crime.
