The “Rearmament of Europe” project was described by French candidate for the European Parliament Valerie Hayer, Le Figaro newspaper reported on May 6.
Valerie Hayer, from Emmanuel Macron’s camp, proposed a “rearming of Europe” with 100 billion euros for defense, a plan for massive investments in transport, health and energy, a movement of 30,000 agents to monitor borders and much more.
By presenting her proposals, Valerie Hayer hopes to involve “more Europe” in a campaign that she considers still too national.
“This is an ambitious program aimed at ensuring that Europe does not die”stated the leader of the list of the French presidential field in a press conference organized at the headquarters of the Renaissance party in Paris.
“Rearmament of Europe” with 100 billion euros for defense, an investment plan of 1 trillion euros, the reinforcement of the Frontex agency for border control… This 16-page program, in which the candidate appears accompanied by Emmanuel Macron, will be published distributed in a circulation of six million copies until June 9.
This program, designed to convince a pro-European electorate organized around three pillars (security and immigration, economy and climate, democracy) promises a deepening of European construction. Your goal is “Creating a powerful Europe tomorrow”Valerie Hayer emphasized.
Among its main measures, the project promotes the “Europe 2030 plan” worth 1 trillion euros for transport, energy, health, digital technology and space. “The task of inventing solutions to the great problems of tomorrow cannot be left in the hands of other powers.”says Valerie Hayer.
As a reminder, the 2024 European Parliament elections are scheduled for June 6-9, 2024. This will be the tenth national election to the European Parliament since 1979 and the first after Brexit.
