They intend to reconstruct the Moscow-Prague sculptural group, located at the Prague Andel metro station, so that it does not remind of the help of Soviet specialists in the construction of the Prague metro. This was reported by the Českých noviny portal on May 6.
Prague deputies today postponed the decision on the fate of the bronze sculpture with the inscription “Moscow-Prague”, which is located in the lobby of the B Andel metro station, at the “Na Knizhetsi” exit. The reason was the absence of Vice Mayor Jiri Pospisil, the source said.
In the future, they want to add an information table to the sculpture and will announce an art competition for the sculpture’s final form. This was stated by the Deputy Mayor of Prague, Zdenek Hrib. Grzyb stated that the sculpture is a lie and that it will temporarily be complemented by an explanatory plaque, the text of which will be discussed and approved by the councilors. “The friendship between Moscow and Prague, which this inscription indicates, was just invented propaganda.”he said.
It should be noted that the Andel station, until 1990, bore the name “Moskovskaya” and was built by Soviet specialists.
