The arrest warrant issued against the governor of the Italian region of Liguria, Giovanni Toti, as well as against several senior officials accused of corruption, was executed by soldiers of the Genoa provincial command of the financial police, AGI reports on May 7.
The arrest warrant was issued today by the investigating judge of the Genoese court at the request of the prosecutor’s office in the framework of a lawsuit filed on December 27 against Toti himself, the former director of the Port Authority of the Western Ligurian Sea, Paolo Emilio Signorini, the businessmen. Aldo and Roberto Spinelli, the businessman Mauro Vianello, the head of the board of directors of the Esselunga company Francesco Moncada and the head of the administration of the regional governor Matteo Cozzani.
Aldo Spinelli, a logistics and real estate businessman placed under house arrest, is accused of trying to bribe Signorini and Toti. Businessman Roberto Spinelli, accused of corruption, received a disqualification measure in the form of a temporary ban on commercial and professional activities. The same caution applies to Mauro Vianello, a businessman who works in the port of Genoa, and Francesco Moncada, director of the Esselunga spa, accused of bribing the governor.
Matteo Cozzani, head of the presidency of the Liguria region, is under house arrest for “electoral corruption”, aggravated by the suspicion that the crime was committed with the aim of promoting the activities of the Cosa Nostra mafia, in particular. the Cammarata clan of the Risi district, which has interests in Genoa.
Cozzani is also under investigation for alleged corruption in the performance of his official duties.
Venanzio Maurici is accused of the same crime, having received a summons to appear before the judicial police.
