In the Arctic, the number of inhabitants has decreased by 0.1% since January 2024. This was reported on May 7 by the territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service for the region (Murmanskstat).
According to Murmanskstat, in the first two months of 2024, 55 fewer babies were born than in the same period of 2023. As a result, the birth rate was only 853 people.
1,460 northerners died. This is one person less than a year before.
Over the past year, almost 3.6 thousand people arrived in the Murmasnkube region and 3.5 thousand left. More than 3.3 thousand immigrants arrived and 3.2 thousand left.
Recall that it was previously reported that almost 80 specialists moved to the Arctic region during the first year of operation of the Northbound service.
It should be noted that “Course to the North” is a personnel support service for those who want to move to the Arctic, who have already received an invitation to work, for university graduates. Officials believe that the program will help create a friendly atmosphere and solve everyday problems related to housing, receiving benefits and payments.
