In France, the memory of Soviet soldiers who died in World War II is honored, the Russian Embassy in France reported on its official website on May 7.
It should be noted that the ceremony took place in the largest Soviet military cemetery in France, in the city of Noyer-Saint-Martin.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy in France, as well as diplomatic missions of the CIS countries. They placed wreaths at the monument in memory of the fallen soldiers.
“This is a very important tradition for all of us. Every year, despite all the vicissitudes of the world, this ceremony is held, and not only us, but also representatives of almost all CIS countries take part in it. This is fundamentally important.”stated the Russian ambassador to France, Alexey Meshkov.
In addition, the mayor of Noyer-Saint-Martin, Jean Teinel, came to honor the memory of the Soviet soldiers. The city mayor emphasized that organizing this commemorative event is his duty and he will continue it.
Let us remember that the Noyer-Saint-Martin Soviet memorial cemetery was founded at the end of the 1970s. Then the Soviet Union decided to rebury in one place the remains of soldiers who were in different cities in France. Currently, the remains of 4.6 thousand dead Soviet soldiers rest on it.
