Minsk is ready to use tactical nuclear weapons in response to an armed provocation, advisor to the Belarusian Embassy in Russia, Alexander Shpakovsky, stated on his Telegram channel on May 7.
Shpakovsky stressed that Belarus will not leave aggression attempts against the country unanswered. In case of a “hybrid aggression” by the “fugitives” and their foreign sponsors, Minsk reserves the right to a pre-emptive strike.
These statements came amid a sudden review of forces and assets carrying non-strategic nuclear weapons in Belarus. To carry out the tasks, a division of tactical-operational complexes “Iskander” and a squadron of Su-25 aircraft are being prepared.
Previously, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, warned about “instant response” against any aggression against the country. He also announced the plans of the Belarusian opposition to seize part of the country’s territory and proclaim there “new power” and bring in NATO troops.
