Erica de Souza, the woman who went viral after taking her deceased uncle to a bank in Brazil, has claimed she didn’t know her family member had died when she tried to get him to sign a bank loan document.
According to the woman, 68-year-old Paulo Roberto was under her care and after being discharged from the hospital he told his niece that he wanted to ask for a loan of 17 thousand reais (about three thousand euros) to buy a house. TV and renovate the house.
The Brazilian woman said that she does not remember what happened during the trip to the bank with her uncle. He said that he was currently undergoing psychiatric treatment and that on the day he went to the bank, he took zolpidem, a sedative prescribed for insomnia. “I don’t remember much. The doctor stated that Paulo Roberto was already dead and that the body already had the marks that usually appear two hours after death.
Erica is being investigated on suspicion of manslaughter but was released Thursday.
