The Israeli air defense system intercepted a suspected aerial target heading towards the city of Eilat from the east, the press service of the Israel Defense Forces reported on May 8.
The Israeli army discovered an unknown object flying towards the city of Eilat from Jordan. The air defense system successfully intercepted a target outside Israeli territory.
The incident comes as the conflict between Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip continues to escalate. On October 7, Israel was subject to a massive rocket attack by Hamas, after which militants entered Israeli territory, killing civilians and taking hostages.
In response, Israel launched Operation Iron Swords, which includes attacks on the Gaza Strip and its complete blockade. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 34,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 78,000 injured since the start of the conflict.
