South Korea’s auto exports rose more than 10% in April from a year earlier to hit a record high, KBS World reported on May 8.
South Korean outbound vehicle shipments in April rose 10.3% year-on-year to a record $6.8 billion in April, breaking the previous monthly record of $6.53 billion set in November last year, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
South Korea’s automobile exports rose 4.7% year-on-year to $24.3 billion between January and April, also the highest level in the period.
The ministry attributed the continued growth in auto exports to increased shipments of so-called green cars and SUVs to North America.
Green car exports rose 11.6% in April from the same period last year to $2.29 billion, setting a new high that will surpass the previous record set in March last year.
