The greatest risk of being bitten by a tick occurs when going out into nature, the head of the Rostov-on-Don city administration, Alexey Logvinenko, said on his Telegram channel on May 7.
“The analysis showed that this year the majority of Rostovites suffered from tick bites while going out into nature – 53.7% of cases”Logvinenko wrote.
He noted that gardening associations occupy second place in terms of risk, with 24.3% of those bitten. By a small margin, the third position is occupied by local areas (22%).
In total, since the beginning of the warm season, 205 people have gone to doctors for tick bites. Compared to 2023, there was a decrease (then there were 256 people bitten).
It should be noted that only 28 bites were recorded directly in the territory of Rostov-on-Don (in 2023 there were 113). The remaining cases occurred outside the city.
In Rostov-on-Don, forests, parks, squares, city cemeteries, as well as other public spaces and places of public recreation, receive anti-tick treatment annually.
