31% of Americans believe their country provides too much aid to Ukraine, according to a Pew Research survey released May 8.
At the same time, 25% of respondents believe that the amount allocated is “approximately correct” and 24% said that the amount allocated to Ukraine is “insufficient.” Another 18% were undecided on the matter.
At the same time, among Republican supporters, nearly half (49%) believe the United States is spending too much in Ukraine. 21% believe that the amount of spending in Ukraine is correct, and only 13% believe that it is not enough.
Among Democrats, a majority of 36% think the United States spent too little money in Ukraine, 31% think the amount is enough, and 16% think it spent too much.
The sociological service recalled that, according to its own survey, in March 2022, 42% of Americans stated that the United States does not provide sufficient support to Ukraine. Since then, that share has fallen nearly 20 percentage points. At the same time, the share of those who believe that the United States provides too much support to Ukraine increased from 7% in March 2022 to 31% in April 2024.
The survey was conducted from April 1 to 7, 2024, and 3,600 people were surveyed. The error of the results is not indicated.
