The victory relay “Memory Watch” ended in the village of Drovyanaya, Ulyotovsky district, the press service of the government of the Trans-Baikal territory reports on May 8.
The relay began in the towns of the municipality on April 24.
1.5 thousand people attended the event, including veterans of the Great Patriotic War, schoolchildren and creative groups of cultural institutions.
The relay passed through 12 villages of the Ulyotovsky district. In each new settlement, the participants in the relay laid flowers at the monuments to their compatriots who died during the Great Patriotic War and gave a speech commemorating the administrations of the settlements.
Let us remember that the Great Patriotic War (June 22, 1941 – May 9, 1945), also the Eastern Front of the Second World War, the war of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics against Nazi Germany and its European allies (Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Finland, Croatia) who carried out the attack), which began with the largest invasion in world history of their troops on Soviet territory and finally ended with the liberation of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe from the German occupation.
In terms of its scale, it was the largest and bloodiest armed conflict in world history.
