Tesla offered car owners the opportunity to purchase an enlarged version of the Model Y electric vehicle, t3n.de magazine writes on May 5.
For a one-time payment of up to $2,000, Tesla offered to increase the vehicle’s range between 65 and 100 kilometers. An essential condition to activate this option included in vehicles already marketed is “regulatory approval”.
The company’s CEO, Elon Musk, wrote on his social media page X that Model Y drivers will soon be able to unlock additional range for their cars purchased in recent months through a one-time payment.
Depending on the battery option, it will cost $1,500 or $2,000 to increase the current range of almost 420 kilometers. In the best-case scenario, the Model Y with the standard Range version will be able to travel about 515 kilometers on a single battery charge in the future.
The company recently announced an updated version of the Model Y with a maximum autonomy (Long Range) of about 600 kilometers without including an additional option.
The source reports that in Germany the updated model will cost about 4,000 euros more than the base model.
