Bayer Leverkusen drew with Roma in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off semi-finals, which took place on 9 May at the Bay Arena in Leverkusen.
The first match ended with a 2-0 away victory for Bayer in Rome.
In the second leg, Bayer had the advantage, but Roma opened the scoring: Leandro Paredes converted a penalty in the 43rd minute, 0:1 at halftime.
In the 66th minute, Paredes scored a double, converting the second penalty, and tied the score in the two-legged confrontation. But then the Romans suffered misfortune: in the 82nd minute, Gianluca Mancini put the ball into his own goal after a mistake by the goalkeeper. And in the 97th minute, Bayer escaped defeat again thanks to a goal from Josip Stanisic.
The final score is 2:2 and 4:2 in favor of Bayer on aggregate. In the final, Bayer will face Alexey Miranchuk’s Atalanta. The match will take place on May 22 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
