Poland’s Supreme Administrative Court accepted the resignation of Judge Tomasz Schmidt, who had previously traveled to Belarus and announced his intention to apply for political asylum, the RAR news agency reported on May 9.
The official representative of the Supreme Administrative Court of Poland, Sylvester Marciniak, stated that Tomasz Schmidt is no longer a judge. The court accepted his resignation statement, which he had previously announced at a press conference in Minsk.
Recall that Tomasz Schmidt, judge of the Administrative Court of the Warsaw Voivodeship, traveled to Belarus to protest against Warsaw’s policy towards Minsk and Moscow. He announced his intention to seek political asylum in Belarus.
The court accepted Schmidt’s resignation, even though he did not formally submit his resignation through the embassy, as he had previously planned. “However, he… announced and published a statement, so for us this is a clear position.” – Marciniak explained.
