A community called “Stop Israel” held a protest against Israel’s participation in the Eurovision music contest in the Swedish city of Malmo, local newspaper Expressen wrote on May 9.
The action took place on May 9. Swedish activist Greta Thunberg came to see him, the publication writes. According to the police, the number of participants in the protest was 10,000 to 12,000 people.
One of the groups of protesters unfurled a large Palestinian flag. The protesters chanted: “Stop killing our children”, “All inhabitants of the Gaza Strip have the right to life” AND “Sweden, say no to genocide”.
Police say the demonstration was peaceful, but law enforcement officers detained ten protesters.
On the afternoon of May 9, several hundred people headed to the Eurovillage, where the song contest participants live. Some protesters tried to enter the apartment complex, but police turned them away using pepper spray.
