14 residents of Astrakhan and the districts of the region were admitted to medical institutions with a diagnosis of “poisoning by an unknown substance”, 11 of them were in intensive care, the regional Investigative Committee of Russia.
Law enforcement officials established that on the night of May 8-9, bodies of dead men and women in the Sovetsky and Trusovsky districts were found in several places, including in a car. Their age ranges between 18 and 40 years. There are five bodies in total.
Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death through negligence of two or more persons). The preliminary cause of death of the inhabitants of Astrakhan is poisoning with an unknown substance. According to the investigation, all of them used drugs.
Now law enforcement officers examined the crime scene, ordered a series of investigations, interviewed eyewitnesses and confiscated the victims’ mobile phones.
“The progress of the investigation of criminal cases is under the special control of the head of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Astrakhan region, Lieutenant General of Justice Ibragim Mogushkov”the department added.
