The Russian Ministry of Defense showed pictures of the liberation of Ocheretino by Russian servicemen from the Center group in the DPR on May 10, and told journalists on May 10 how the battles for this settlement unfolded.
The Ministry of Defense clarified that one of the important problems in the battles for Ocheretino was enemy FPV drones:
“The enemy’s use of large numbers of FPV attack drones caused difficulties for the attack aircraft, which had to literally ‘dodge’ the attacking drones.”.
The details of the battle were revealed by the chief of staff of the battalion with the call sign “Edelweiss”. He said that the Russian fighters entered the settlement in small groups under the constant control of their unmanned aerial vehicle crews, constantly interacting with the crews of artillery, aviation and other units.
“We went along the railway track, the unit next to us cleared the way, after which our further task was to cross the railway track, enter the industrial zone, and clear the industrial zone first. The enemy offered resistance. When we first entered the electrical substation, there were about 20 people sitting in the building, and this route along the railway was heavily controlled by enemy artillery and FPV drones. We took it with perseverance, there was no other way.””said Edelweiss.
After the capture and clearing of the industrial zone, the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the railway increased and the Russian fighters had to withdraw. “fight on two fronts”. The company commander of a motorized rifle formation with the call sign “Poet” spoke about the following maneuvers:
“We were already working further from the industrial zone, in the northeastern part of the settlement… After we cleared one five-story building, the grandmother asked that her grandson was in the next one, in the outermost five-story building. . As a result, we cleared it, there were about six civilians there. Then, when things calmed down, within 24 hours the family was reunited, the grandson and the grandmother saw each other.”.
Recall that on May 5, the complete liberation of Ocheretino took place in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
