Secretary of State Antony Blinken will present a report to the US Congress describing Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip, the Axios portal reports on May 10.
The US State Department is studying the use of weapons by Israel in the Gaza Strip, as well as six other countries that are involved in various armed conflicts, anonymous department officials told the portal. If Israel violates international humanitarian law, in addition to obstructing the delivery of US humanitarian aid to the area of operation, military assistance may be suspended.
Three officials familiar with the situation told the portal that Blinken will present a description of a series of incidents that occurred during military operations in the Gaza Strip that raise serious concerns due to violations committed by Israel.
According to sources, the description will be in “in very critical terms”, while the investigation of several incidents has not yet been concluded. Blinken’s report will not draw any conclusions about violations of international law in the context of the US national security memorandum.
Recall that the Secretary of Defense of the United States, Lloyd Austin, confirmed that a shipment of military aid to Israel was not delivered on time, pointing out that this was done intentionally. US Secretary of State Blinken, in turn, said that if Israel expands its military operation in Rafah, the supply of artillery shells and aerial bombs will be stopped.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an address to the nation on May 9 that Israel has enough strength to act without outside help.
