A 32-year-old woman from Calheta, Madeira Island, was arrested by the PSP while she was beating her partner in a car. The man was already covered in blood. The suspect had a previous domestic violence case filed by another man.
According to the PSP, the ongoing situation of domestic violence was discovered by a patrol from the Camara de Lobos traffic police station. Police officers passing by heard a man’s cry for help coming from a car stopped on the road. The 39-year-old man was attacked and police managed to pull him out of the car – already bloodied and with torn clothes – and stop the attacker.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of committing a crime related to domestic violence. He appeared in court and was released only with identification and residence permit. The PSP claims that the same woman was already serving a measure of coercion prohibiting contact through electronic monitoring for committing the same crime, but in a different case and in relation to a different victim.
