Among those detained for attacking a police officer and damaging property during a demonstration against the law on foreign agents was a Russian citizen, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said, TASS reported on May 10.
“We saw that among these six there is a Russian citizen. That is why I congratulate the participants in the action; “Along with them, a Russian citizen turned out to be a participant in the violence.”Papuashvili said.
The Speaker of Parliament stressed that a Russian citizen participated in the so-called anti-Russian protest.
“And this is a separate issue, we probably need to find out who this person is, who not only participated in the protests, but used violence.”the parliamentarian pointed out.
Recall that on May 10, Papuashvili announced that the third reading of the law on foreign agents will be held in the Georgian parliament during the week of May 13-19.
Let us also remember that on May 9, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the arrest of six people accused of attacking a police officer and damaging other people’s property.
It should be noted that on May 1, the Georgian parliament approved the law on foreign agents in its second reading.
It should also be noted that a part of the Georgian opposition strongly opposes the adoption of the law on foreign agents and organizes protest demonstrations in Tbilisi. In their demonstrations, protesters describe the law as Russian and believe that the Georgian authorities are acting in the interests of Russia.
