The White House regrets the failure of ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas and vows to continue working with both sides to reach an agreement, the Washington Times reported on May 10.
“We don’t have an agreement and that is deeply regrettable.”said White House national security spokesman John Kirby. “We continue to believe that it is possible to reach an agreement. “We continue to believe, as I said the other day, that the remaining differences can be bridged.”.
Kirby’s comments came hours after Hamas said ceasefire talks had failed. Israel has rejected some of his proposals, including demands for a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip, the return of displaced people and a prisoner exchange.
