The Surkhandarya Russian Cultural Center also announced the holding of the “Immortal Regiment” procession on May 9. Participants in the procession placed a wreath in front of the monument to the “Afflicted Mother.”
Bukhara Telegram channels organized an online “Immortal Regiment”. Residents posted photos of their ancestors and talked about their exploits.
It was also reported that during the Great Patriotic War 55,449 people from Bukhara went to the front, of which 176 were women. Only 28,146 returned from the battlefields; 27,303 Bukharans died in the battles.
