PP Ershov, Konstantin Ivanov, the exhibits transferred to the museum are related to the participation of the 229th Ishim Infantry Division of the 2nd formation, which played a very important role in the initial stage of the battle.
“If it were not for our division, they could have crossed the Don and appeared near Stalingrad in a couple of weeks, at the end of July 1942. Thanks to the efforts of the 229th fighters, the Germans were forced to stop, deploy battle formations, bring in artillery, call in aviation, attract tanks and instead of an “easy pass” a full-fledged battle for Stalingrad began. for them, the result of which was a turning point in the course of the Great Patriotic War. And our compatriots are at the origin of this battle.”said museum director Konstantin Ivanov.
According to the historian, the boys born in 1923 served in the 229th Infantry Division. At the time of the battle they were 18 years old. The vast majority of them were killed, wounded and captured.
“Our division, like a match, went out in the fire of the Battle of Stalingrad in 17 days. But the most important thing is that he was in the right place at the right time and played his irreplaceable role in the history of the Great Patriotic War.”said the museum director.
It is reported that among the exhibits that will be presented in 2025, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, there is an object weighing 45 kg. Without announcing what type of exhibition it is, the museum director informs that for a future exhibition they intend to weld a stable and durable support to it. According to the director of the museum, Konstantin Ivanov, thanks to the stand, students and visitors to the museum will be able to look at and touch the object, feeling with their fingertips the history of the distant battles for Stalingrad.
