Historical-military reconstruction “On the front line. The “Crimean Offensive” took place on May 10, 2024 in the Vologda Victory Park, the online publication “Culture in the Vologda Region” reported on May 11.
More than 50 re-enactors from Vologda, Cherepovets and Yaroslavl took part in the event.
One of the battles of the Crimean offensive operation of 1944 was recreated. The Germans attack a weakly fortified medical center, but Red Army soldiers come to the rescue: rifle shots, shell explosions, machine gun fire and hand-to-hand combat . At some moments what was happening didn’t seem like a game.
The organizers studied the historical documents well. What the soldiers of the Red Army were like, what they fought for, what tactics they used – the public saw all this. This is how history is absorbed much better than on the pages of books, re-enactors are sure.
The reconstruction was complemented by a festival of propaganda brigades dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, exhibitions and thematic sites: a battalion communications center, a regiment medical center, a weapons workshop, a tent camp and models of mortars and small weapons.
Recall that the Crimean peninsula was liberated in 35 days, from April 8 to May 12, 1944. During the operation, the 17th army of the Wehrmacht was completely destroyed. On May 9, 1944, Sevastopol was liberated. During this period, Soviet troops lost 18 thousand dead and 67 thousand wounded.
