The match of the 22nd round of the 31st Russian Championship of the Men’s Bandy Superleague of the 2022/2023 season ended with the away victory of “Start” from Nizhny Novgorod over the match of Kirov “Rodina”. The match took place on February 4 at the Rodina Stadium in Kirov.
In the 23rd minute, Rodina managed to concede two goals and miss some correct chances, when Evgeny Leukhin opened the scoring for the Kirov team from a corner. However, in the 42nd minute, Nizhny Novgorod’s Roman Ledyankin mistakenly caught the hosts’ defender and pushed his 100th goal in the Super League into the net-1: 3.
In the 56th minute, the teams exchanged goals from the corners, but the Kirov team continued to chase fatal misfortune: in the 60th minute, the ball of Start defender Mikhail Oskin bounced off Maxim Shakirov’s goal: 2: 5.
Twice “Motherland” bravely reduced the gap, and the guests inexorably returned the previous difference in the score – 4:7. In the last ten minutes, the Kirovites pressed the “Start” to their gates, and almost managed to achieve a draw. The hosts managed to meet two standards in the 87th minute of the match, and if Maxim Maslov had scored a penalty in the 82nd minute, the efforts invested would have been worth it.
Rodina (Kirov) – Start (Nizhny Novgorod) 6:7 (1:3)
Goals Scored (minutes): Evgeny Leukhin (23), Artur Shelpyakov (54), Kirill Litvinov (63), Nikita Menshikov (74), Oleg Pivovarov (84), Andrey Nagibin (87) —— Sergey Dadnov (6), Denis Kotkov (8), Roman Ledyankin (42), Denis Igoshin (56), Mikhail Oskin (60), Alexey Kiselev (65), Leonid Afanasiev (79).
Let’s remember that Rodina occupies the last 14th line of the table with two points due to a draw at home and another away. The Kirovites are finishing the championship at home, but now only Sibselmash on February 8 and Ak Bars-Dynamo on February 18 have a chance of winning points.
