Maritimo continues to dream of the playoffs after beating Oliveirense this Sunday 2-1 with a goal from Preslav Borukov in the 81st minute in the 33rd round of the II Football League.
Maritimo, in fourth place, now has 64 points but is just one away from third, AVS, on 63 points, while the final round sees the Madeirans visit Academico de Viseu while Jorge Costa’s side host Tondela.
With this result, Oliveirense is now tied in 14th place with Leixoes, both on 34 points, but already safe from relegation following Feirense’s 2-1 defeat to Torrense on Saturday.
The Islanders have completed the turnaround.

Oliveirense opens the scoring
Some fans were still looking for a better place and Oliveirense were already winning: Jon Kelechi opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a header inside the small penalty area that resulted in goalkeeper Samu Silva being caught in a terrible ‘photograph’.
Ricardo Cheu’s side were the better side, but soon after, in the 22nd minute, when nothing could have predicted it, the Islanders leveled the score, with Lucas Silva successfully parrying Tomas Domingos’ cross with a persistent move.
In the second half, there was a controversial move at the hour mark when Lucas Silva seemed to make it 2-1, but the referee immediately overturned it, deeming that the Brazilian had fouled the defender’s back.
Maritimistas “woke up” and, shocked by the crowd, took the lead in the last 10 minutes, thanks in large part to the ingenuity of Eiller, who assisted Preslav Borukov to score the winning goal.
