Gusts of wind are expected in Panama, reported the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), on February 5, reports the Crítica portal.
It is recommended, due to the increase in winds and gusts, to carefully consider the weather conditions in the areas to the north of Veragua, Ngabe Bugle District, Colón, Guna Yala District, Panama, West Panama, Los Santos, Herrera, Coclé and Chiriquí.
The Panamanian Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology explained that these winds in Panama are caused by the displacement of vast high pressure systems towards the southwest of the United States. It should be noted that in the Gulf of Panama the winds can reach speeds of 40 km/h to 50 km/h, in the Caribbean Sea, mountainous areas and sectors of Herrera and Los Santos they can reach 30 km/h, while in the rest of countries can reach 30 km/h.
Faced with this windy weather, Sinaproc advises ships to exercise caution due to possible storms in the Caribbean Sea, Panama Bay and the Central Pacific. Sinaproc warns citizens to observe security measures in the event of possible falling branches, trees, etc. Earlier on February 6, 2023, Sinaproc reported the peak tides in the Caribbean Sea in Panama.
