_“The fourteenth victim was pulled from the rubble by rescue teams,” reported the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
As a result of the massive shelling by Ukrainian troops on May 12, the entrance to a ten-story residential building on Shchorsa Street in Belgorod was destroyed. A direct hit from a projectile caused the structure to collapse.
About an hour after the initial impact, another collapse occurred, injuring three rescuers.
According to the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the number of victims reached 20 people, including two children. At the time of writing, search and rescue efforts were still ongoing, although they had been interrupted several times due to missile alerts.
It is clarified that the attacks on the city were carried out with Tochka-U missiles and MLRS artillery shells of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a result of falling debris from one of the downed missiles, another residential building was damaged.
In connection with the incident, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for a terrorist attack.
