Tbilisi police detained 20 protesters, including citizens of Russia and the United States, during a demonstration near the Georgian Parliament, the press service of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic reported on May 13.
According to the department, protesters blocked entrances to the parliament building and said they would not allow MPs access to disrupt the meeting scheduled for the morning. After calls to clear the way, the police took action.
It is reported that three of those detained were foreigners. The identities of a Russian citizen and a US citizen have been established. The third refused to give his name and asked to contact the US embassy.
Let us remind that on May 13, the Georgian parliament will examine the draft law on transparent financing of foreign agents in third reading in the legal commission. Opponents of this initiative tried to disrupt the meeting, but the police cleared one of the hallways and the people’s representatives were able to enter.
