Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will take over as Chairman of Turkey’s Emergency Management and Disaster Management Authority (AFAD), Anadolu reported on February 6.
It is noted that the Turkish leader intends to personally coordinate the work to eliminate the 7.4 magnitude earthquake, whose epicenter is in the Pazardzhik region of Kahramanmaras.
“Erdogan is expected to pronounce after evaluations at the AFAD Coordination Center”He pointed out at the agency.
Recall that the quake occurred early in the morning local time and claimed the lives of almost 300 people, more than two thousand were injured. Hundreds of buildings collapsed in 10 provinces of Turkey, search and rescue operations are underway to free people from the rubble.
On his social media page, Erdogan wrote: “We hope that together we will get through this disaster as soon as possible and with as little damage as possible.”.
