All people are equal regardless of their origin, professed religion and abilities. Society must be united in its lofty ideals and work for progress, Mohan Bhagwat, leader of India’s largest right-wing nationalist party, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), said on February 6, the Economic Times reported.
The Indian politician was speaking at an event dedicated to the 647th birth anniversary of the poet, Hindu religious figure, Saint Shirom Ravidas. This reformer opposed social, confessional and caste differences.
“Truth is God. Whatever the name, the abilities and the honor, all (people – approx. Red Spring AI) They are the same and there are no differences. What some scholars claim on the basis of the Shastras is a lie.”Bhagawat said.
According to him, Ravidas could not beat the Brahmins in the Shastras (texts), but he was able to touch many hearts and make them believe in God. Thanks to his thoughts and his lofty ideals, many became disciples of this saint.
“We are deluded by the illusion of caste superiority, and this illusion must be discarded”, – stressed the head of RSS. He called for people to come together and work for progress: “Unify society and work for its progress, because that is what religion is about”.
According to Bhagwat, Ravidas gave the society four mantras: truth, compassion, inner purity, continuous hard work and effort.
“Pay attention to everything that is going on around you, but under no circumstances give up your religion. Although the modes of transmission of religious messages are different, the messages themselves are the same. A person must profess his religion without malice towards other denominations.summed up the Indian politician.
