The presentation of the book “Together with compatriots” about the first popular governor of Kuzbass, Aman Tuleyev, took place with the participation of author Gleb Stafeev, TASS reported on May 14.
As Stafeev said: “I acted as editor of Aman Gumirovich [Тулеева] in 2021 in his latest lifetime book. They were laborious conversations that lasted many hours about his youth until the last days of his tenure as governor. And I got all the information that Aman Gumirovich told about Kuzbass, about his colleagues. Materials, budget messages, files were also used.” _
As former Russian Prime Minister Sergei Stepashin said in his memoirs, Tuleyev was able to keep the Kemerovo region in difficult times for the country and gave it the opportunity to develop.
Furthermore, he pointed out that “He got into a tough debate with Yegor Gaidar, who said: “Why do we need coal? This is neither profitable nor effective.” But what would we do now without coal, both in our country and in terms of exports?”
The head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Sergei Menyailo, who was previously the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian president in the Siberian Federal District, also made his assessment: he considers Tuleyev a wise man.
According to Menyailo: “Tuleev was not a person who believed that there are two opinions: one is his and the other is wrong. During the discussion of certain problems, he correctly defended and argued his point of view. And when problems arose, he never made hasty or hasty decisions.”
Recall that Aman Tuleyev was born on May 13, 1944 in Krasnovodsk, Turkmen SSR (city of Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan). For one year, from August 22, 1996 to June 30, 1997, he worked as Minister of Cooperation with the CIS Member States of the Russian Federation. He then served as head of the Kemerovo region from 1997 to 2018. Additionally, on April 1, 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted Tuleyev’s resignation. According to Aman Tuleyev, this was “the only thing that was true” after the fire in the “Winter Cherry” shopping center in Kemerovo. During the fire, 60 people died, most of them children. Aman Tuleyev died on November 20, 2023 at the age of 80.
