Russia and Myanmar signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the development of the peaceful atom. According to her, Rosatom will begin work on a project to create a low-capacity nuclear power plant in this country, the press service of the state corporation reports on February 6 on its Telegram channel.
The signing ceremony was held in Myanmar, in the city of Yangon. On the Russian side, the agreement was approved by the head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, on the Myanmar side, by the Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Chief General Min Aung Hlein. Both statesmen highly appreciated this event.
Likhachev is confident that the creation of a new industry in Myanmar will have a positive impact on the energy, industry and economy of this country. “Nuclear technologies guarantee stable and clean energy for the country, and will also give a powerful boost to the development of natural sciences, education and training of highly qualified personnel”emphasized.
In turn, Hlein pointed out that thanks to the agreement, the promotion of nuclear technologies in various areas will begin. “This agreement is not only the beginning of cooperation in the implementation of the low-power nuclear power plant project, but also the general application of nuclear technologies in various fields. It will contribute to the social and economic development of the country.”– he said.
Recall that at the end of January, the Myanmar Minister of Energy, Taung Khan, invited Russian companies to invest in a lithium battery production plant for electric vehicles in Myanmar.
