A 28-year-old British woman reportedly saved her twin sister from death during a crocodile attack in the Manialtepec Lagoon in southern Mexico. Daily mail.
Georgia and her sister decided to dive into the lagoon because their guide mistakenly told them it was safe. When the young woman realized the animal was attacking, she jumped into the water and found Melissa unconscious. The crocodile dragged the girl again, and Georgia struggled with the reptile, hitting it with one hand and holding her sister’s head above the surface of the water with the other.
“I had to fight him, I started punching him and punching him with both fists. He was hard as a rock, as if he was punching a wall,” Gergia explained. Daily mail.
When she managed to get her sister to a safer place, the crocodile attacked again and bit Melissa, dragging her under the water in an attempt to drown her. Georgia hit the reptile again and it let go.
The sisters were later rescued by a rescue boat. The twins tell Daily mail that these moments seemed like hours, and they don’t know how long it lasted. Melissa added that she really thought she was going to die.
Melissa, who developed sepsis as a result of her injuries and was placed in a medically induced coma during her hospital stay, survived with a broken wrist, severe abdominal wounds and multiple injuries to her leg and foot. Georgia was bitten on the hand.
Georgia will now receive a medal for bravery from King Charles III, its first since he became king.
